Counselling and Psychotherapy

People come to counselling for many different reasons, but most of all for support. So choosing the right therapist for your individual needs is essential. Taking the first step to begin counselling can seem daunting, but once you've taken it, you may feel a great sense of relief.

Successful therapy can empower you to re-connect with your inner resources which you already posess, but may have overlooked in your current difficulties. Life is constantly changing and for many of us this can cause distress. Working with your therapist and developing your self-awareness, you can discover new ways to respond and adapt to those changes. Lots of people from all walks of life have had counselling and for the vast majority, the experience has been positive and helpful.

You can arrange an inital consultation, where you can explore any issue in your life. You will not be judged, but listened to in confidence, accepted and offered support in a safe, honest environment. This first meeting is also an opportunity for me to find out about you and for you to decide if you are comfortable in working with me.

Research shows that the single most important factor in determining the outcome of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client.

Therapy is on a weekly basis and each session lasts for fifty minutes.

You may find that you only require a few sessions to work through or resolve a current problem. However, your particular issues may require longer term work. Whichever is the case, the length of the therapy will be negotiated between you and myself, with the decision to begin and end resting with you.

If you have any questions concerning therapy, you can call me and I will be happy to discuss them with you.
